Handmade Pastels - Freshen Up Your Palette for Spring

pastels_custom_assortment

This winter I have made great strides in my pastel making. I discovered a simple digital scale will allow me to make the same colors later on if I wish! This got me working on a recipe book which now has 88 colors in it! Most of these colors are custom mix colors that are unlikely to turn up in other sets on the market. I am especially happy with the bright clean reds I am now able to produce. Making bright colors requires pure pigment and none of the fillers like Calcium Carbonate, China Clay, pumice, talc - that often make up a great deal of manufactured sticks. I've learned to be very sparing on the binders I use. Many times the pigments need no binders at all. Like cooking, it's a lot of trial and error. Experience pays off handsomely. Our medium of pastel is all about color and I am sure adding some new colors will really get your painting going in high gear this year. Let me pick out an assortment for you or do some window shopping if you wish. When you lay out a nice soft stroke with these colors, you'll know my pastels are the best bargain in the pastel marketplace! All pastels are $3.00 each. For a custom order, click here to contact me. I'll email you with a final total which will include shipping. You can enter this amount when you pay online.

What Folks Are Saying:

"After discovering Paul deMarrais' wonderful pastels about 6 years ago, I feel my artwork has grown by leaps and bounds. They are my favorite for laying in rich, large passages of color and are great for plein air painting where working rapidly is critical.

A Note About Color...

Due to the inconsistencies in color on various computer monitors and flat panel displays, the images you see of my paintings and pastels may appear slightly different than the actual product. While I make every effort to match color as closely as possible on my website, colors will vary from display to display and therefore should be evaluated as a representative likeness and not as an exact match to the actual artwork.
